Studies show people with psoriasis often refrain socializing and prolong intimacy while dating.  This apprehension stems from fear of being rejected as a result of having visible skin irritation. 
 


Although much easier said then done, if you are single with psoriasis its time to put your “thick skin” to use, and start taking control of your life.

Dating with Psoriasis is an Emotional Roller Coaster Ride

Dating is often one of the best times of a person’s life.  A time full of excitement, emotions, and fun searching to meet the great love of life. The flipside dating is also a time full of stress, fear and anxiety about exposing yourself and meeting new people.  So dating, at best is a roller coaster of emotions for the average single person. Just imagine how emotionally exhausting and terrifying dating can be for a person living with flaky, itchy, irritated psoriasis skin.

People with psoriasis undoubtedly have had their fair share of awkward stares, curious glances, and obvious finger pointing throughout life. And overtime this unfavorable public attention begins to lower self-esteem causing people with psoriasis to often feel unattractive and uncomfortable in their skin.

So, when it comes to psoriasis and dating, the approach to getting on the roller coaster doesn’t have to be more challenging, before enjoying the ride.

couple embracingIt's a Saturday night downtown in the middle of the winter. The dedicated, trendy, and hip people are running amuck drinking, dancing and just flat out having a good time. Look around. No one is wearing enough clothes, women and men alike. It's below freezing and there's nothing but mini-skirts and t-shirts for blocks.

People, subconsciously or not, are looking to hook up, looking to make eyes with someone, maybe even just impress their significant other (and his/her hot friend) but in order to do so…show me some skin!

It's about 12:30 now. 50% of the people are going to go home and take off what little clothes they do have on, hopefully anyway.
