Psoriasis and Summer- A Good or Bad Situation

Psoriasis in the summer is a two-fold situation since the weather conditions actually help people with psoriasis do better but on the other hand, less clothing is worn during the summer than in other seasons, which can make psoriasis skin symptoms more visible to the public, and more stressful to the individual.  With a little preparation and readiness, psoriasis sufferers can enjoy the summertime just like everyone else.

Psoriasis may actually irritate the skin less during the summer months, making life a little easier for sufferers.  For most people, soaring temperatures and high humidity may be uncomfortable, but for psoriasis sufferers, their skin will be better moisturized due to that humidity, which is ideal for psoriasis.  Additionally, exposure to the sun is better for psoriatic skin as well.  UVA is a recommended treatment for many types of psoriasis, so the natural exposure to it is likely to help as an additional therapy.
